I had a few more thoughts I wanted to get to last week, but my note was already getting a bit long - and I need to save content before I run out of ideas. Hopefully that doesn’t happen until after my New Coke milestone.

So here’s the conclusion to my unintended three-issue story arc about getting started.

Perfectionism has its place. But sometimes, your inner monologue telling you to wait (or not to bother at all) is really just self-doubt masquerading as high standards. It’s a defense mechanism trying to spare you from embarrassment or disappointment.

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

And since last week, it’s gotten even easier to build a version one. Fable 5.1 and Astra were just rumors a week ago. And now my timeline is full of insane 3D models and people becoming game developers because Astra is GOATed, as the kids would say.

A year ago, the horizon of possibilities for a solo entrepreneur had already expanded dramatically thanks to advances in model capability. The models were still kind of dumb though. Last Thursday, that horizon just took another leap forward.

People can debate AGI all they want. One person with some vision and tenacity can now do work that would’ve taken a whole team months.

So shoot your shot. Then take another one.

That was the original idea behind STUDIO 3000 after all. So I’m listening to my own advice: next week, I’m launching Blades - an app to help you spend less time on your phone and more time outside.

It won’t be perfect. It might even fail. But I’m taking the shot.
